PROJECTS:

- Determination of the NMR structures of a phytochrome chromophore-binding domain in both ground and light excited states (collaboration with R. Vierstra's group)

- New fast NMR methods: "HIFI-C" (NMR reduced dimensionality method applied to scalar and dipolar coupling measurements)

- Measurement of protein backbone chemical shifts and RDCs in six different alignment media for site specific CSA tensor determination (collaboration with Ad Bax), other collaboration projects

- Measurement of RDCs and refining an RNA structure with RDCs (collaboration with S. Butcher's group)

- Structure elucidation of a homodimeric protein and other structural proteomics targets from Arabidopsis thaliana

- NMR structural study (including protein expression and purification) of a protein-protein complex

Detail: The complex between the A domain of the mannitol specific enzyme II (IIAmtl) and the histidine-containing phosphocarrier protein (HPr) of the bacterial PTS system.

- Hydrogen Bonds Through Scalar Coupling

Detail: Identification of the hydrogen bonding network in a protein by measurement of the weak (0.15-0.8 Hz) scalar couplings. Correlation with the hydrogen bond lengths (calculated from the X-ray structure).

- Protein backbone CSA (Chemical Shift Anisotropy) tensors

Detail: Measurement of backbone amide 1H, 15N and carbonyl 13C CSA tensor components and orientation using weakly aligned proteins in a liquid crystalline medium.

- TALOS (Torsion Angles Likeness Optimized by Shifts)

Detail: TALOS: A database based program for predicting protein backbone dihedral angles using NMR chemical shifts and residue homology. (the corresponding paper was cited more than 1200 times as of June 2008)

- Correlation betweeen one-bond Ca-Cb scalar couplings and protein backbone conformation
