Born: 1977

Interests: linguistics, corpus linguistics, academic writing, learner corpora, Romanian Learner English, genre analysis, writing culture, contrastive analysis, multilingualism, typology, dialectology

Details:
I finished my PhD studies at the University Albert-Ludwig of Freiburg, Germany, in 2011. My doctoral thesis investigated the lexico-grammatical profile of Romanian Learner English. The focus of the PhD project was on selected types of written texts (i.e. the argumentative-essay genre) produced in English by Romanian students of English, which were compiled into the first Romanian Corpus of Learner English (RoCLE, pilot version of RO-ICLE). Previously, I had received a M.A. degree in European Linguistics from the same German university (2006) and a B.A. degree in English and French language and literature (2000) from the University Transilvania of Brasov, Romania.
At present, since October 2010, I work as a senior researcher at the Department of Applied Linguistics of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. My fields of interest are academic writing, contrastive writing cultures, corpus linguistics and learner corpus profiling. I speak English, German and French (fluent), Italian (proficient) and Spanish (intermediate).
