Born: 1973

Interests: Atmospheric Sciences, Climate, Meteorology

My general interest is in the general circulation of the atmosphere, climate variability and climate change as well as atmosphere-ocean interactions. My research has focused on the low latitudes variability in the upper troposphere, with emphasis on the mean meridional circulation, eddy and transient momentum fluxes and their role in the angular momentum budget. We have documented the three-dimensional structure of the tropical stationary waves, both in anomaly and climatology fields and pointed out the important role that these waves play in controlling the dynamics of the troposphere and possibly the troposphere to stratosphere exchange. Special emphasis was given to variability related to the annual cycle, ENSO and MJO. Other interests: tropical cyclones, tropics-extratropics interactions.
