- air-sea interaction; cryosphere-atmosphere interaction;
- climate prediction over Atlantic-European region;
- assessment of climate impacts from the standpoint of regional sustainable development.

• Collaboration in developing Implementation Plan for the project Small Pelagic Fishes and Climatic Change (SPACC), in the framework of Global Ocean-Ecosystem Dynamics (a core programme of the International Geosphere/Biosphere Programme) (1995) and Science Plan for the EuroGLOBEC (1997).
