Sandu Irina Crina Anca. Cercetarea proceselor de imbatranire a materialelor organice din structura picturilor vechi cu straturi de preparatie. 2003.

Abstract: The thesis has two parts: literature study with presentation of the conservation state typology of old paintings and Experimental part with original contributions, followed up by general conclusions and a bibliography. The thesis has 304 pages, containing 170 figures, 47 tables and an annex. Main problems, resolved in the thesis:
- Involving analysis methods, which permit obtaining special data, useful for the determination of different correlations and characteristics of the material level and structural element;
- Determining some interdisciplinary and co-assisted relations between different analysis techniques for the study of the nature and chemical structure and physical state of structural elements for old paintings;
- Elaboration of new dating methods;
- The implementation of new nondestructive analysis methods of polychrome surfaces, with application in authentification, state conservation ration, compatibility studies of the conservation interventions.

Keywords: Cultural Heritage, conservation, scientifical investigation, degradation and deterioration state, mechanism of the ageing processes, dating of the works of art, colorimetry, spectrophotometry, thermogravimetry, microstratigraphy, gas-chromatography and mass spectrometry methods.
